Bringing Neighbors Together

Mah Jongg is enjoying a resurgence in popularity – learn how to play this Thursday!

It is becoming more common to see people playing Mah Jongg in coffee shops, community centers and of course senior centers.    Many people think the game extinct, only played in China, or only played by women - they couldn't be more wrong!   In fact, according to the National Mah Jongg League, the game  is enjoying a revival.   American Mah Jongg, which is often compared to gin-rummy (using  tiles instead of cards),  is the version played at Glenbrooke.

If you would like to learn the game, or just see what all the buzz is about,  come to the Arbour Lodge activities room on Thursday,  February 7, 2013 at 1:00PM.     The Mah Jongg group plays two days a week at the Lodge.  On Mondays, we meet at 10:00AM and on Thursdays at 1:00PM.

There is no charge for the lessons or play.   You are welcome to bring a beverage if you would like or coffee and hot tea are available at the lodge.       If you are brand new to the game,  please RSVP to Darcie Gore at 6476-494 so we make sure there are enough handouts.   (Please note: there was an error in the phone number printed in the Gazette article - the number is correct under group leaders).
