New plays announced for Theater Go’ers

Theater Go'ers announced the three upcoming plays today during their membership meeting.  If you would like to be placed on a waiting list for tickets, please let Terri Bacon know.  For those who signed up today, if you have not yet given me a check for the tickets you may put it in the locking box on my front porch.  I will need to have all the checks by next Sunday.
The new plays are:
Sunday, May 27 at 2:00.  $18.00
We return to one of our favorite theaters, 24th Street, for the Runaway Stage production of the Cole Porter classic Kiss Me Kate.

The egotistical performer Fred Graham and his ex-wife Lilli Vanessi are reunited in the the leading roles of Petruchio and Kate in The Taming of the Shrew.  They fight, but obviously still love each other.  Meanwhile, due to mistaken identity, two gangsters harass Fred and two former cabaret performers struggle to keep their romance alive.  Kiss Me Kate opened on Broadway in December 1948 and ran for 1077 performances. A successful revival in 1999 proved this is a timeless classic.

Sunday, July 8 at 2:00.    $16.00

In July we will be returning to Chautauqua Playhouse in Carmichael for Arsenic and Old Lace.

Two charming sisters offer elderberry wine to potential “roomers” in order to improve their situation – and then bury the bodies in the basement!  Add in their brother, who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt, a nephew who is on the lam and one who is engaged to the local minister’s daughter and you have an evening of hilarity and fast paced comedy that has become an American classic.

Sunday, August 5 at 2:00.  $18.00 (includes a campout meal on the patio of Arbour Lodge following the play)

Camping With Henry and Tom – Bob and Ro Productions, Studio Theater, Sacramento

In 1921, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison and President Warren G. Harding took a camping trip together into the Maryland woods to escape civilization; what they couldn’t escape was each other.  Inspired by an actual event, this is an exploration of friendship, politics and leadership; a comedic and dramatic clash of two great minds and one great heart of the twentieth century.  A word of caution: may contain strong language.
