The Holidays are fast approaching whether we are ready or not.  M.I.N.G.L.E.S.* has some extra special activities  planned for all Glenbrooke homeowners in November and December!

This Sunday finds us going to the 24th Street Theater for a performance of  White Christmas(November 20th at 2:00PM).  This will be a fun event starting with a pre-show luncheon of Quiche served in the ballroom at noon for only $2.50 per person.

If you have tickets to White Christmas, don't forget to join us listening to the soundtrack from the musical while you enjoy our  lunch      You will also pick up your theater tickets  at the luncheon and while you eating and visiting you can organize any needed car pools.  We will have maps for those that haven't been to this theater.

If you missed out on the Musical, you want to make sure and sign up now (in the binder in the lodge) for the MINGLES Christmas Party.  This will be a Souper Event held at 6:00PM on  Saturday, December 17th in the ballroom. We thought everyone would enjoy a chance to take a break from all the heavy holiday meals and relax with their neighbors over a bowl of homemade soup (there will be several varieties from which to choose).  We'll also be playing a friendly game of bingo afterwards (for bragging rights only, rules is rules).  Tickets will be  $4.00 per person at the door or $3.00 if you bring a coat or toy for the Holiday Charity drive.   Both Bingo and the Soup dinner are included in the price of the ticket.

Our biggest challenge is to estimate how many people will be attending, so please sign up in the activities binder at the lodge so we make enough soup!

M.I.N.G.L.E.S. stands for Meeting Interesting Neighbors @ Glenbrooke, Leisure, Entertainment and Socializing.    There are no dues or attendance requirements all Glenbrooke residents are welcome at any activity.

The  Singles Group designates the second Sunday of the month at 2:00PM as their game time but the reality is the activities room has been reserved every Sunday at 2:00PM for MINGLES no host games.   That means everyone is welcome to come EVERY SUNDAY!

What does “no host” games mean?    It simply means there is not a ‘leader’ present at that time and there is no pre-determined game.   Residents are free to bring their own games, pick from ones available at the lodge or start a communal jig saw puzzle.    By having a pre-set time,  homeowners know they are likely to find neighbors  interested in getting a warm friendly game going on these cold winter days.

The Consumnes Services District is sponsoring L.O.L. Comedy Series as a fundraiser for Cosumnes Legacy Foundation projects.

Mark your calendars for Friday,  November 4th at 8pm.   Seating starts at 7pm at Laguna Town Hall, 3020 Renwick Avenue in Elk Grove.   Tickets are $12/in advance or $15 at the door.  You can purchase tickets online, by phone or in person at the addresses below.    This show is intended for an adult audience 21+ only.

A new comedy series guaranteed to make you laugh out loud (LOL!).  Tell your friends and get ready for some zany antics.  Comedy Sportz teams will compete for your laughs by making up scenes based on your suggestions. This is similar to the show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”   Refreshments will be available for purchase as no outside food/beverages permitted.

Thirty Three people came to the Lodge on Friday night to enjoy the MINGLES root beer float and Minute to Win It Challenges.  We have some very competitive people in Glenbrooke - just look that concentration.     Here is a slide show of the event.

We are pulling out all the stops (read, no expense was spared)  for competition and laughter with two games from “Minute to Win It,” Stack Attack and Separation Anxiety.   Start practicing  yourself, grab a partner, your grandkids and family or come as team.   The Challenges are easy- until the timer starts!

Stack Attack takes 36 cups and the challenge is to stack them in a pyramid then take them down - returning to one stack in one minute.     There are two videos of this challenge.   Click on the blue underlined word(s) to view the videos.   The first video is the instructions  and the second is a sample of someone completing the task.

In “Separation Anxiety” a player must separate a pile of 50 M &M’s into 5 separate containers in a set color order.   With this challenge, here is a video that shows both the instructions and a person completing the challenge.

So, turn off that boring TV and come to the Arbour Lodge Ballroom on Friday night at 6:00PM to enjoy a root beer float, conversations, friendly competition and loads of laughter.   There is no cost to participate in either challenge.

The fun starts at 5:00 PM.   You are asked to bring your favorite beverage but coffee, water, and hot water will be available.    If you would like to bring a snack to share please do so every 4th or 5th week - there should be plenty of things to nibble on each week.

MINGLES will be holding  game night immediately following the Happy Hour so block out time for just the Happy Hour, Happy  Hour and Games, or Happy Hour and an evening swim.   Since  all facilities are open until 9:00 PM, the choice is yours.

Note:  Please remember glass is not allowed around the pool.

What is MINGLES?   It stands for Meet Interesting Neighbors @ Glenbrooke; Leisure, Entertainment, & Socializing.    Just remember it is a fun social group open to all Glenbrooke homeowners.

If you want to plan fun activities, get to know your neighbors better and work with positive committee members, consider submitting your name or nominating someone else (please get permission to nominate others).   Grab your friend and neighbor and serve together!

There is a can to deposit slips of paper for  nominations located on the entry table in the Arbour Lodge.

There are four (4) elected positions:  President, Vice- President, Treasurer and Secretary.    Terms are Two (2) years. Nominations will be open starting July 1, 20011  and the new term  begins August 1, 2011.    If you have any questions about the duties or time commitment, please call Darcie Gore.
