Bringing Neighbors Together

Tonight, the Trails Committee offers a special bike ride

bike_month_300x250The Elk Grove Trails Committee is sponsoring an 11‐Mile Community Bike Ride tonight.    A community bike ride featuring the popular Franklin Creek Trail and Elk Grove Trail is planned.

Hosted by the Elk Grove Trails Committee, the 11‐mile, family‐friendly community bike ride will provide an opportunity for residents to share ideas and input with Trails Committee members.   Bicyclists are encouraged to meet at the corner of Whitelock Parkway and Big Horn Boulevard at 6 p.m.  The community bike ride is part of May is Bike Month, a regional effort to promote the many benefits of bicycling.

For more information about the community bike ride,  contact Sharon Anderson at 916‐606‐5012 or sharona@citlink.net.

We hope to see Glenbrooke well represented!

  1. 11 MILES???????????????? Well you go for it Darcie and post us a picture to enjoy while having our toddies on the patio.

  2. Aaah come on Norma, you can WALK one or two miles. Seriously, Three of us are going so far. We did the one in Folsom when they closed Scott road for Bike month. Nice to ride with no traffic.. I did 15 miles (but remember, I have an electric assist bike :) It should be pretty.

    • Walk 2-3 miles...I can do that, but bike 11, no way! Is there a shopping center along the way, that really gets me in the mood. Maybe like a Chicos or a Slater's 50/50 Burger place. Aaah, we'll see if the mood strikes.

      WHAT.....an electric assist bike, that's cheating! :-)

  3. According to the city, "...6-7:30 pm. The ride will start and end at the northwest
corner of Big Horn Blvd. and Whitelock Parkway, an 11 mile loop along the Franklin Creek
Trail and 2 other Elk Grove trails. This is a family friendly route with shortened options of
less than 5 miles and another approximately 8.5 miles.

    • There were about 25 riders (only Jim and I from Glenbrooke) Two tandem bikes, two with kid carriers, one electric assist :) and the rest, regular riders.

We started out on Big Horn and Whitelock,, took the trail to Franklin, followed a creek trail then went north through park areas until we got to Batey park on Four Seasons. Then another trail to Laguna Springs back down to home. About 12 miles.

Hey Del's Angels, did you know there is another Wednesday bike group that leaves Starbucks on Whitelock and Bruceville at 5:30 PM each Wednesday?
