Bringing Neighbors Together

Enjoy a Free Blues Concert with your neighbors

bluesMINGLES has 20 free tickets available for the upcoming Musical History of the Blues performance.   At least 6 of your neighbors are going.  If you would like to join us,  you can pick up a ticket in the free events  binder in the Arbour Lodge.    If those tickets are gone,  you can also get them online at  www.elkgrovecity.org/concerts.

Well-known local blues musician Gary Mendoza will headline a free foot-stomping community blues concert in Elk Grove on April 27.   The Musical History of the Blues performance, hosted by the Elk Grove Committee for the Arts, will feature the Gary Mendoza Band and Elk Grove student musicians.  The two-hour concert will follow the history of blues in America, including back porch, Delta, and Chicago styles that have rocked juke joints and cabarets of the past.
Driven by the sounds of Muddy Waters, Howlin‘ Wolf, Little Walter, and Otis Spann, the Gary Mendoza Band features rich and soulful vocals, powerhouse  musicians and a signature blues harmonica.  The Gary Mendoza Band performs regularly in prominent venues throughout the Sacramento region.  Mendoza lives and works in Elk Grove.
The free concert, open to all ages, will be held at the Sheldon High School Performing Arts Center at 8333 Kingsbridge Drive at 7 p.m. Seating is limited.
The Elk Grove Committee for the Arts is charged with facilitating and championing arts and entertainment within the City of Elk Grove.  The five-member committee, appointed by the Elk Grove City Council, was established in 2002.  The Musical History of the Blues is the committee’s first performing arts production.
