Bringing Neighbors Together

Who Should I Vote For? CANDIDATES NIGHT WEDNESDAY 6:30PM!

How do you know who would make a good Director on the Glenbrooke Community Association Board and represent your values?     The simple answer is be informed and meet the candidates!     There are at least four ways to gather information about the candidates. First, there will be a candidates Forum on March 6, 2013 at 6:30PM in the Arbour Lodge Ballroom.    Candidates will have the opportunity to  answer questions submitted previously  by residents.    The event is hosted by the Communication Committee and should prove to be an educational evening. Second,  read their 'Candidate Statements by  going to the navigational bar at the top of this page and clicking on "Board Candidates" or by clicking on their name:  Peter Gaffney,  Glen Glaser,  Linda Hargan,  Walt Hess,  Marty Keale,  Kent Sherwood,  and Harold Wheeler. Third,  contact the candidate directly!   They are all listed in the resident directory or have contact information on their statements.     Fourth,  enjoy getting  acquainted with the  candidates in an information setting with other neighbors.   Some candidates are making themselves available at different homes  so residents can  get to know them better, ask questions and discuss issues facing Glenbrooke.     All Candidates have been invited to submit that information to GlenbrookeNews and it will be posted in order received.

  1. "The event is hosted by the Communication Committee and should prove to be an educational evening." ROTFLMAO Three of the candidates are on the Communications Committee....sounds like a stacked deck to me.

  2. In past years a separate nominating/election committee oversaw the election process. I don't know how or why the communications committee assumed that responsibility ?

    • I observed a prior communications committee meeting - and got the impression that there weren't enough folks on the nominating committee - so they proposed combining the two committees (less members recused) to handle the process.

  3. Why is there so much hesitation in posting exactly who is on this committee? Is it some big, dark secret? I may not want to waste my time. I'm a very busy woman. LOL

  4. I don't think there is any hesitation in posting who is on committees - here or on The GCA website. GCa website has it under the left sidebar, Association Business then Committees. Here is the list

    Design Review Committee
    Peter Gaffney, Chairperson
    Walt Hess
    Chris Rohwer
    Ben Salak

    Communications Committee
    Gail Day, Chairperson
    Sharon Hess
    Linda Hargan
    Jim Morris
    Harold Wheeler
    Jim Wooldridge

    Facilities Planning Advisory Committee
    Darcie Gore, Chairperson
    Leo Plumley, Vice Chair
    Kent Sherwood, Board
    David Herzberg
    Martin Lambert
    Gil Mello

    Transition Committee
    Jeannine Ricci, Chairperson
    Marty Keale, Vice Chair
    John Carlson, Secretary
    Harold Wheeler, Board
    A.D. Dopson
    Kathy Schauwecker
    Maureen Kelly-Thompson
    Les McCargo

  5. Mr. Wheeler is a busy man, seeming to influence-peddle agendas by occupying seats on the board and as many committees that he could secure-- even to the extent of enacting a board resolution to specifically accomodate him on the communications committee.

Mr. Wheeler is a person that should be voted out, not voted in, from my observation and experiences with him.

I have much I could explain about Mr. Wheeler, but for now, I'll let the legal process pursue matters pertaining to him and the current composition of the board.
