Stolen Hose
I went to water some plants, just now, and was shocked to see that my water hose is missing. It was connected in front of my gate... on Kennet. Wondering now if I should move things off my porch?? I brought this hose from my last home. It was not in good condition but it did the trick. Anyone else missing anything today?

When something like this happens, contact your Neighborhood watch block captain, so they can get the word out to your neighbors. Just came back from the Quarterly N.W. meeting - that's one thing we all should do.
My 2 cents.....understand there was JUST 35 people at the quarterly meeting yesterday and that was out of 476 calls made earlier as a reminder. Now that's how many people...600/700+. I'll admit, I was one of those not in attendance, but I have a good excuse...playing the horses! Mary busts her butt in visiting every home as soon as she's aware there's a new resident. We had a new neighbor just move in and she's already been there and the NW for our street now has their names & phone numbers should they be needed in an emergency. There's so much more she does for our neighborhood and unless it has changed in the last few months, all at her expense! Now I will most likely hear from her about mentioning that, but it's true as far as I know. Why is that, anyone else ever wonder? Of course, most likely it would take an act of congress to get it included in our budget.
Now the hose.....I'm sorry about that, but most likely will not be something I, for one, will be passing on to the neighbors. Just last week on my street alone I observed 4-5 yard workers, Direct TV, Frontier, handyman and a couple of sales people dropping off flyers. We're no different here than the neighborhoods we moved from....stuff happens. If your neighbors are gone, keep the papers/flyers off their front porches.. I have things on my porch that I would hate to have taken, but I also know they could disappear one night and I would be an unhappy camper. This neighborhood is strong on NW, but we can't see everything 24/7 and things will happen even during the day. It's tough times out there! END OF SPEECH...-)
I wish I never would have posted this....but thought it
was the right thing to do. Losing my hose is no big deal.
Thanks for your concern.
Marcie
Marcie C:
It was a good thing you did posting the loss of your hose. It is not the value of the hose but the theft we all need to know about and keep an eye out for. And report it to your block captain so the word can spread all over to watch out for people checking out our front areas.
The Neighborhood Watch meeting, and the lack of interest thereof, is a different issue.
Thanks for letting us know about your loss, I have two hoses out front...I think, guess I better go look.
Hey Guys: sorry about the hose. Anybody notice how ugly the entrance to Del Webb is looking. Weeds, dying plants. Most of this is noticable only if you are walking down Del Webb Blvd toward the lodge. Walking to the mail box everyday a lot of our lawns on Chatsworth is full of Weeds. Oh well, its only $159.00 a month, What do we expect? They put 4new plants in the front of our house and when they left they used the plants to step on to get out. Great, Hope they survive. Bye
OUCH......
Had my eyes dilated this afternoon so just now able to get on the computer, hopefully not too many misspelled words. Marcie, I was not downplaying the loss of your hose as I too, would have been upset about that. However, what I meant was that as a NW person, I would not type up a flyer and hand deliver it to 8-10 of my neighbors. I believe that it was most likely a lone incident and not someone covering the neighborhood collecting hoses. Should that change I would certainly follow through. Now... is that how I should handle something like this? I have no clue, that's just my personal observation and until I hear something different that is how I will handle it. Should I hear something different from the other two on my street, then of course I will follow up.
Perhaps I over analysied the post.......my apologies to everyone who took offense.
Hoses are handy for siphoning gas. Have you checked your fuel gauge lately if you park outside?
I agree with Norma L' s comments above - especially re: Mary Weatherill. She is a gem.
Re: reporting the loss of things from the front of the house - I believe I would notify my neighborhood
watch people to be cognizant of this happening. They can make their own decisions as to handling
their property.
