Glenbrooke Residents give back to Community
On Friday, February 17, 22 brave souls from the Glenbrooke beginning Line Dance Class ventured to The Commons at Elk Grove, a nearby assisted living facility, to demonstrate a variety of lively line dances. The dancers, who were led by their co-instructors, Lynda Gronich and Nancy Gaffney, were:
Daisy Bahr, Gloria Boyd, Gerri Chatfield, Clara Clear, Angela Dea, A. D. Dopson, Judie Hopkins, Patti Jong, Carol Lambert, Pat Lujan, Alice McCargo, Cheryl Mello, Flory Moran, Cindy Nagel, Linda O'Hara, Kathy Powell, Judy Putt, Sharon Stover, Sue Thompson and Karen Wolff.
For about 45 minutes, our girls treated the residents to a demonstration of 11 different line dances.
The dance team experienced a glitch with the sound equipment early on, but, thanks to Gloria Boyd's intervention, the day was saved. The delay provided an unexpected opportunity, as Carol Lambert noted: "Actually, it worked out very, very well as we all were able to make a personal contact with the residents. I had a very nice talk with one of the women and I know other people did, too. Sometimes, things work out for a purpose!!"
In the future, the line dancers may have other opportunities to perform at other senior care facilities in the Elk Grove area. Stay tuned – this could go Hollywood!
If you are interested in learning basic line dance steps, please contact Lynda Gronich at 897-2964 or Nancy Gaffney at 685-0603. There is a beginning class that meets in the Arbour Lodge ballroom every Friday morning!
