Harold Wheeler – Candidate for GCA Board of Directors
Glenbrooke Community Association (GCA) Board Candidate’s have all been invited to submit their Candidate statements to GlenbrookeNews for posting. There are four candidates and this is last in the series. We will post a page with all statements in the near future -ed.
Harold R. Wheeler
Background Experience: Procter and Gamble: Worked as a manufacturing technical service expert serving 13 domestic and one international plant making detergents, bar soaps , toilet goods and industrial chemicals. Clorox: Worked in a variety of positions culminating as a Director of Information Services in charge of Project Management.
One other assignment was as Director of Process and Package Development and was the facilities manager of a 90,000 sq ft technical laboratory. International Business Machines: Project Executive working on Y2K and Disaster Recovery. Enabled a client who lost their entire Information Services infrastructure during 911 to restart within one week of the attack.
In all my professional management positions I managed operating budgets ranging from $500,000 to $12,000,000/year. I know the difficulties associated with balancing needs against limited funds. This need is especially acute when managing changing demands such as we face while our community continues to build out.
During the past four years I have enjoyed living in Glenbrooke. For the past two years I have participated as Chair of the Glenbrooke Communications Committee. I teach Bridge at the lodge, am active in Pickleball, and am a member of the community chorus. I frequently attend lodge events and almost never miss a play as part of the Live Theater group in our community.
Reasons for Serving on the Board of Directors: I hope to insure the transition to a community managed Board Is well planned and effective. I hope to strengthen relations between the lodge, the board and the community.
