Elk Grove Historical Society’s Big Springs Gardens Tour
Discover 30 Acres of Unexcelled Natural Beauty on Saturday, September 24th with the Elk Grove Historical Society’s “Big Springs Gardens Tour.” You will board a bus at Elk Grove Historical Society 9941 East Stockton Blvd. at 8 a.m. returning at 6 p.m. Cost is $75.00.
It’s a beautiful drive to Sierra Valley then a stroll through the gardens before and after lunch (which is included in the price). The return bus will board at 3:45 to go to Truckee for a brief stop to shop before returning home.
Big Springs Gardens is a private 118 acre parcel largely surrounded by national forest. The gardens are 30 acres of unexcelled beauty with 23 acres of native growth and 7 acres of plantings to enhance the natural beauty of the site. Thousands of flowers, shrubs, and trees have been planted over the last 17 years, all with an eye and an appreciation for fitting into the natural beauty of the site.
Enjoy a relaxing meal after the self‐guided walk on the two‐plus miles of trail leading you to The Source where water bubbles up from a spring and flows down through the property into Paradise Pond. It's a trip you do not want to miss. These are mountain paths and comfortable flat shoes are required.
