Bringing Neighbors Together

A Special Place for Family Gatherings

by Darcie Gore

When we left our large two-story home for our little home in Glenbrooke, we also left the opportunity to have all the family over for holidays in a home environment.    Because of the configuration or our previous home, we were often the location for family reunions, birthdays, holidays and receptions.

This year, on the Internet, I saw a large Victorian house in Grass Valley to rent.  While the rent was $300 per night and seemed steeped, it slept 10 people easily and up to 14 people "creatively."    If you only divide the cost  with two people it is less than a good  hotel room!        Since most of our  families live in the foothill region, it looked like the perfect place  to see everyone together again.

This was not a Bread and Breakfast, we rented the entire house, plus a "man cave" with TV, couches, video games, Foosball, etc.,  a "family room" with movies, toys, books and wifi.   The large bright kitchen had every appliance and twice the dishes we could ever use.   The owners were also pet friendly.

Renting this amazing Victorian was a wonderful Christmas gift to our families and us.   Once again, we were able to visit in a comfortable home that was fully decorated for the holidays - including the Christmas tree, linens, serving plates and centerpieces.

Everyone had a great time and we were able to:

Go to the last day of the unique Nevada City Victorian Christmas

Have 20 of Jim's relatives get together on Sunday

Have 18 of my relatives come for dinner on Monday night

I highly recommend A Victorian Rose.     Please visit their website at A- Victorian -Rose.  The owner, Catherine,  was very helpful and the experience gave both families memories of a lifetime.

Remember, if you have visited an interesting place, share the experience with your neighbors.  Email the detaiils to  newsofglenbrooke@gmail.com
