Telephone Notification System to Start January
Riverside management representative presented the proposed One Call Now System. The is similar to the city’s 'reverse 911' in that a message can be delivered to many homes at once. It can be used for emergency notifications or as simple as notice of street work or event cancelled.
The system would cost about $6.00 per door annually with unlimited calls. This system was presented at the communication committee meeting and reportedly 80 % of residents in attendance raised their hand in support of trying it.
This was previously brought to the Board but was referred to the communications committee for further study. Staff was recommending a contract with One Call Now System. The cost of for the year was included in the 2011 budget in the IT line item. It would begin in January and new homes would get added without additional fees for the year. The service is a voluntary opt in to all residents. The Board approved starting One Call Now System for one year.
