So Disappointed to see Graffiti in Glenbrooke
Driving home from Newport Beach Sunday, I had remarked to Jim about the clean up of graffiti on the freeways in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas.
Some years back it was so prevalent that all the green freeway signs had razor wire circling poles and signs to keep the vandals away. Maybe that worked, maybe community programs where juveniles and gangs caught were made to clean up the mess worked. Whatever the reason for the vast improvement, we didn’t see much in Southern California.

Imagine the disappointment when we returned home only to find ugly vandalism and tags along our walkways. The good news is Elk Grove has a graffiti eradication program. Jim has already reported the sites he saw on his walk but it is important that everyone take responsibility to report “tagging” to the police department online at http://www.elkgrovepd.org/reporting/report-graffiti.htm or call (916) 478-8231.
Special thanks to the Elk Grove Police Department Volunteers (several live in Glenbrooke)

Not only does this keep our community beautiful; it cuts down on gang problems by eliminating their tagged turf.

Thank you, Jim and Darcie, for noting and reporting this graffitti. I thought I was the only one doing this! When I moved here in 2007, as early as September of that year I reported spray paint on the concrete walls at Big Horn and Whitelock.
I will do my part to report this stuff, too. Disturbing to know that the creeps are marking up "our" park as they stroll through it...
I live on the corner of Del Webb and Kennet, and while walking my dog, I SAW a high school kid passing through, as he does each morning around 6:50. He tossed the remainder of his Pop Tart, with wrapping, onto my front lawn; I guess it looked like a huge trash can to him!!! He was too far down the street for me to yell something at him. It's a good thing, too, because I would have given him a piece of my mind!!!
I am not speaking of Graffiti...that's a whole different game. You mention a Pop Tart being thrown in your yard by a passing teenager, well, I guess it happens by all ages since I had one of our own leave a coke can on the sidewalk in front. I just picked it up and threw it in the trash...no comment. Assumed it was just a lapse in his thinking, no big deal. As to the teenager....maybe that was the case there also. Unless, of course, it becomes a habit and then maybe a kind reminder will work. If not, be prepared and sure it's worth it and you can handle the repercussions that could follow.
I'm pretty surprised Peter G. didn't get to both pieces of trash before you ladies did. My wife and I often see Peter and Gracie out picking up trash, and not just in Glenbrooke. Thanks Peter for helping to keep our area nicer.
Yea, well I waited on him and he didn't show, so finally just gave up and did it myself. He may have to be replaced...believe Nancy's thinking about that now!
Ha Ha Ha! You know I'm irreplaceable, Norma! And why would anyone want a second one like me, anyway? I saw A.J. and Wendy while out running with Gracee this morning, and they noticed my white trash bag that I was stopping to fill whenever I saw litter. I do it every week, usually Saturday a.m., and fill the sack every time. People are the biggest slobs.
I don't understand that either. Just got back from a soccer game at a park nearby and you can't believe the water bottles, soda cans, candy wrappers just left on the ground when some of the parents left. We always insist our players pick up.....it's the adults leaving the mess. Different generation.....seems to be a breakdown in values. The only problem is when you do Lindsays laundry and see all those flakes of paper in the washer......forgot to check the pockets!
