New Association Website Debuts

I had an opportunity to preview the new Glenbrooke Association website which will debut Septenber 1, 2010 at www.glenbrookeca.com. I think residents will be pleased with the vast improvement.
You will need to register with your name, address and email (you will not be able to use your old ourglenbooke email). I found the site easy to navigate and logically organized. The calendar was much easier to read and even had a banner of special events highlighted. The week starts on Sunday, as most calendars do, instead of Monday which often resulted in mistakes transferring dates to personal calendars.
The other feature I really like on the calendar is the ability to “filter” entries. Let’s say you are a member of Singles and you would like to see all the Single activities for that month. You can sort to show just those events!
Groups and clubs will be able to personalize their page. I do wish group leaders were told they should prepare a “home page” for their club (including pictures). The groups could have been working on this all summer instead of clicking on the club page to find a notice that reads, “Personalize your Group Page!” when it goes live.
Forums have been eliminated but there is a classified section. The Resident Directory is a PDF file of the Resident Directory we received. Hopefully the Directory on the web will be updated as new residents move in - our paper Directories are already out of date.
A section called the Board Room has the meeting dates for the Board and a drop down menu that includes, Governing Documents, Agenda and Minutes, Resolutions, Financials, and Reference materials.
On a side note, I am often asked what is the difference between this site, Glenbrooknews, and the Association’s website. The Glenbrooke Community Association (GCA) Board of Directors adopted a resolution ‘media policy” that restricts the content of the GCA website to board approved activities only. That means if we have a community BBQ that is not sponsored by the GCA, it cannot be published nor could celebrations, recipes, activities in Elk Grove, etc. That is why Glenbrookenews exists – to fill that void. GlenbrookeNews is by neighbors for neighbors. We do support the use of GCA new website for association activities.
Tomorrow, Sept. 1, 2010 you will be able to register for the new site at www.glenbrookeca.com We recommend you take some time to explore the new site and all the drop down menus.
Now it is your turn to review it. What do you like about it? Any suggestions?

Will the new site work on the Apple Safari web browser ? the old one does not ?
It is suppose to work with Apple. Maybe you could report back tomorrow if does or not.
Nice look and it was great to get that green monster picture off the website.
However, one thing that I did notice was there is no detail on the event calendar such as cost, etc. Maybe the address of the Lodge could be left off..... leave more room for details of each event. Good to see the Board Room postings up to date. I'm sure they're still working out some of the bugs with the website. BTW, is this website cheaper than the old one?
It's my understanding that the new site should be substantially less costly than the prior one, both in fees and staff support time...
Several of us Apple computer users were pleasantly surprised to find the new site works well with the Apple Safari web browser. This will probably make it more likely for Apple users to access the association site. Good Job to all who worked to get the new site in place.
THE NEW WEB SITE IS A VERY GOOD.I CANT FIND THE PLACE TO RESISTER PLEASE ADVISE. THANKS
Dave this is the neighborhood website which is operated by Darcie and Jim Gore. Everyone in the neighborhood should consider this site their site as that is the purpose. The Association does have a new website which is located at glenbrookeca.com and is controlled by Erin and Mina. For that site you need to send your email address and password to receive confirmation and then you are allowed to look at homeowner information.
As you have commented on this site you have already done what is necessary to participate here. Welcome to the neighborhood and please feel free to contribute articles, stories, news, whatever - it's your website and Darcie and Jim welcome assistance and participation.
Hope to meet you soon at the Lodge.
