Bringing Neighbors Together

First Meeting of the Glenbrooke Choral Group is Tuesday

Come join in the new Choral group at Glenbrooke  on Tuesday nights, starting August 31st from 7:00 - 9PM.   The purpose of forming this chorus is to enjoy the beauty of choral music, have fun and perform the music rehearsed at Glenbrooke and outside venues.

Singing is a healthful exercise, learning to breathe deeply, improving your speaking voice and your longevity.

This is an exciting opportunity for all levels of singers.  You will have the privilege of learning under the direction Alex Gould, an amazing singer,  teacher and director.

Alex was a tenor soloist for Harry Owens and his Royal Hawaiians in 1948 and their performances were broadcast nightly on NBC. He was asked to replace Dennis Day on the Jack Benny Show but his faith called him to the full time Ministry of Music.  Alex  left Hollywood for a conservatory in Princeton to obtain a formal education in music which prepared him for teaching and conducting.    Alex Gould has toured as a tenor soloist and sang in Carnegie Hall.

In 1954 Alex created the Fremont Presbyterian Church’s Graduated Choir Program. It grew from 3 to 16 choirs with 750 singers. He has been the conductor of the Sacramento Symphony Chorus of 100 voices. He has conducted both Chorus and Orchestra in concert. Click HERE to hear a the Choral Selection "Good News."

If you would like more information or to join the choir, come to the organizational meeting on  Auguest 31st at 7:00PM in the Arbour Lodge or call Alex or Dortha at 685-8059.

  1. That's wonderful! Will put the word out in Elk Grove for the piano. Assume an electric keyboard would suffice. Maybe we can ask for one to be purchased with the excess funds that seem to be available thru the HOA. :-)

  2. Thank you, Darcie. You did a great job and with music too! Thank you so very much!!!

  3. Assume the need for a piano has been covered or am I rushing in putting the word out?

  4. Norma, check with Alex Gould. I know they got the required 15 people to apply for group status with the Board next month. So hopefully we will be hearing beautiful music soon.

  5. Thanks....maybe I will when I have a minute or maybe someone could post that info here.
