Any Retired Painters?
By Jim Putt
Mena is requiring that we tape the lines on the tennis court before painting them for pickle ball. Are there any retired painters that would be willing to help us do this?
We need advice on things such as what tape to use, how to apply it, how to apply tape in a straight line, how to keep paint from bleeding under the tape, etc.

Sure hope you get the help you need. Pickle ball was popular last Saturday night after the cake and ice cream social too.
I am confused, didn't Mina assure the board several times that staff had the skill to do it?
Yes, Darcie, that is what I remember and I belive that Bob Wolff said he could handle that. Maybe you could check with him or maybe the rules have changed! Don't be too fast, I thought I heard something about four pickleball courts could be made out of one tennis court.
You can get 4 pickle ball courts on 1 tennnis court if the corners & entrance to the court are not angeled as our courts are! I stated this fact mainly to demonstrate how much smaller a pickle ball court is compared to a tennis court!
Thanks Jim. You know when the ladies all find out what pickleball is and how much easier it is to play vs tennis due to the smaller court, especially for those of us that are seniors, (hate that word), more mature, the competition is going to be on.
So go for it...lines are a little wavy, big deal, we know where the kitchen is!!!!! LOL
Seems like staff should be getting a couple of bids from parking lot strippers. I thought
the Board direction was very clear it needed to be a professional appearance. It may not even cost that much as it is a small job.
Again Darcie, you remember all the facts. That would be staffs responsibility to see that a professional does the work with overrsight from the experienced players as to taping being done correctly. Can't worry about expense now, it's a done deal. Good luck!
We normally do not allow people from outside the neighborhood to comment on Glenbrookenews. This comment offered to be of assistance and I made an exception.
"I am the USAPA Ambassador for San Diego County, California and our group is on our THIRD venue for painting/improving tennis courts into pickleball courts. The interest has exploded and we need more courts.
If you still need more info on paint, tape, etc, we would be happy to share our experience. We bought all our paint from Lowe's and they gave us a 10% discount! That helped! We used blue tape to mark for painting the lines AFTER we painted the court. You don't need professional painters - just energetic pickleball volunteers and don't wear your good clothes! Make it a fun day, have someone bring drinks/snacks, and everyone benefits. Good luck!!! Igotitpickleball@aol.com
