Tell Me A Story (TELMAS) TONIGHT!
Tonight, Wednesday, August 11th, at 6:00PM, TELMAS will present Dixie Laws of the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission. The event will be in the ballroom at the Arbour Lodge and light refreshments will be available.
Dixie is the Public Art Education Coordinator for the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission. She will bring illustrations and descriptions of various types of art on display in the Sacramento area. This will be our opportunity to learn about local art and artists. Expect to experience color, imaginative shapes, and ideas.
The mission statement of the Arts Commission is:
ADVANCING COMMUNITY THROUGH ARTS AND CULTURE.
Note: SMAC uses the word “community” to represent both the community of Sacramento County that it serves the residents, visitors, workers and children of Sacramento as well as the community of artists and arts organizations whose ideas, work and very presence enrich the larger community.
The City of Sacramento’s nationally renowned Art in Public Places (APP) program was established in 1977 to expand public experiences of visual art by installing artworks in public spaces. It includes a collection of more than 400 permanently sited works of art integrated into Sacramento’s built and natural environments. More than 80% of these artworks are by local and regional artists. Read more HERE
