Canasta changed to Hand and Foot on Thursday Nights
It appears that the card game “Hand and Foot” is the most popular card game played at Glenbrooke. So much so, Canasta night is now Hand and Foot night and the time has been moved back to 6:00PM every Thursday night. Starting at 6:00PM gives players time to complete two games before the Lodge closes.
Hand and Foot is related to Canasta in that the object is to make “books” of seven cards of the same number. The red (natural or clean) contain no wild cards. Black (or dirty) books include wild cards in the book of seven. There are a few differences in that each player is dealt two sets of 11 cards - the hand, which is played first, and the foot, which is played when the hand has been used up. The scoring has a couple of twists with books of red 7’s and red aces being worth more.
It is an easy game to pick up and there are plenty of people eager to welcome new players, so why not plan on checking out Hand and Foot on Thursdays at 6:00PM at the Arbour Lodge?
