Bringing Neighbors Together

Forum Well Attended and Organized

Residents at Forum

The Glenbrooke Board of Director’s Candidate Forum drew a large crowd of homeowners.     The meeting started promptly at 6:00PM and was moderated by John Eldred.
Mr. Eldred introduced the six candidates seeking the two open positions.

Moderator, John Eldred

Before the forum, each candidate drew a number that represented the order to speak.

In mid June questions were dropped in the suggestion box on the candidate’s table in the lodge.   There were 30 questions submitted.    The nominating committee reviewed all the questions and came up with the three that were asked of each candidate during the forum.

The questions were:

1.     Please comment on the following aspect of the finances a) reserve fund, b) the budget and c) dues.

2.     Why do you want to serve on the Board?

3.     Please comment on the time, frequency and conduct of the Board meetings.

Each candidate had 1 minute to introduce themselves and 10 minutes to address the question.    There was a timekeeper that gave 1 and 2-minute warnings to keep the speakers within the allowed timeframe.

Election packets will be mailed to each home on July 8, 2010.   Homeowners have until August 9th to return them.      The returned ballots will be sent to an independent CPA firm.   Mr. Eldred emphasized that no one at Glenbrooke will touch the completed ballots.

The CPA firm will bring the ballots to the board meeting and count them in front of everyone.

The official Forum was concluded at 7:00PM.     However, the candidates went to tables at the back of the room to be available to meet residents and answer any individual concerns.   The refreshment table was inviting and many residents stayed to talk.

The six  candidates  previously submitted submitted statements to Glenbrookenews.com.    Click on their name below to read their statements.

  1. I'd like to thank all the candidates for their willingness to serve, and the nominating committee for putting together this very informative and well run event.

  2. Ditto Jim! What a wide range of experience all the candidates provided us with......will be difficult to pick just two. Maybe we can have more and they can rotate! :-)
