So what were the results of the Communication Survey?

Arbour Lodge Manger, Mina LaCuesta, at the request of Board will make available the results of the Communication Survey. This survey was an online survey conducted for a 60-day period in February and March of 2010. Mina stated the 17 page slide show would be posted on the Association's website by close of business April 22, 2010.
During the Board meeting, several residents took exception to the validity of the survey and the lack of availability to those who do not use a computer. While the questionnaires were available in print at the lodge, there are residents with mobility issues making picking them up impractical. I am curious about the participation rate. Reponse rates for surveys can vary from less than 2% to rarely top 50-60% - it all depends on the method used to collect the data, the questions, length, etc.
The Board took a number of other actions in an effort to improve communication.
The Board authorized Mina to establish a "Communication Committee" of 5 residents. The Board expressed the desire to have the committee act as a liaison in that many of the frustrations and communication issues could be resolved at that level before even going to the Board. In addition, the committee would be able to provide the Board valuable feedback from the resident's perspective.
If you would like to serve on this committee or would like to nominate someone, call Mina at 714-1010 as soon as possible as formation of the Communication committee is on the 'fast track.' Using a team approach certainly seems more appropriate.
The newly formed communication committee will also research the use of a "instant phone system" whereby a message could be recorded once and automatically call all residents. It sounded similar to the reverse 911 system where emergency personal could have alerts sent to a specific area. The homeowners would have an option of opted out, but it sounds like it has the potential to be a cost effective method of communicating important information.
It feels like we are moving in the right direction for an even better Glenbrooke Community.

Just finished reading the results of the survey...all 17 pages, how boring! What, maybe 40% of residents responded? Pretty good considering it was not made available to all residents and questions were copied from another communities survey and didn't really address our concerns. Now..... lets get this "Communications Committee" going. Darcie, how about it? I know, you're on overload, but it's just one little meeting a month, squeeze it in somewhere.
Update 5/3/10
According to Mina, they are in the process of confirming the five members. As soon as that is done, Mina will notify the Board and "we can go from there." Bill Elliott is the contact for the committee for right now. Mina said, "I will send out a message to everyone as soon as I get a confirmation."
