Bringing Neighbors Together

A Different Attitude

There seemed to be a shift in the attitude of the Board of Directors towards residents at the meeting .  (You can weigh in with your opinion by participating in the poll at the left of this page)  I am not sure what caused the change, but the improvement was obvious to many that attended.     One resident speculated that the results of the communication survey was a "'wake -up call to recall"  for Board members.  Another thought the communication problem might have affected sales,  but everyone I talked to  agreed there was marked improvement.

President Van Dam listened to resident's concerns and appeared to be more invested in his duties.  He tried to strike a balance between allowing resident's questions -  at other times than the public forum - and keeping the meeting on track.  Pamela Ciapessoni, from Riverside Management Company, took a few moments to educate the audience about the line item, "Violation Log" on the agenda.   It is a report to the Board of community CC&R violations as noted by their team - they inspect weekly.    Ms. Ciapessoni noted that violations were down significantly in Glenbrooke since Riverside took  over the management duties for the  Association.

It was refreshing to see the resident Board members discussing issues instead of just "rubber stamping" approval of agenda items.  I specifically appreciate Les McCargo raising the question of possible alternatives to solve a serious safety issue at the lodge.  Even though installation of  additional railing  was sought and appropriately  approved in this matter, it is always healthy to explore less expensive and/or creative methods of solving a problem.  This may have been the very first time there  wasn't a unanimous vote.

Whatever caused the attitude shift, it is encouraging to see the Association Board manage Glenbrooke's common facilities for the benefit of the community.  It certainly is a step in the right direction.

  1. That is good news. I had quit attending as the meetings were becoming to uncivil. Will try to attend the next one /

  2. Since publishing this post, we have added a poll to gather your anonymous opinion about the board meeting. Please weigh in, the poll is on the Home page under the calendar section on the left side..

The software will only allow one vote per computer and we know households do not always agree but hey, it's free and this newsletter is a just a hobby. :)

  3. I tried to vote on the "Attitude of the Board" but I keep getting the message, "your last request is still being processed"...does it take awhile to process a vote?

  4. It shouldn't, did you ever get through?
    Anyone else have trouble?

  5. No, I never got through....tried again today. Maybe it's the computer (or operator)!

  6. Well, shoot, I am not sure what is happening but there are only four repsonses and that doesn't make sense with the number of page views; so other people must be having the problem too.
I'll take down the poll if it is not working properly. Sorry to all for the problem.
