Bringing Neighbors Together

Round Table Discussion with City

We’ll hear a crime statistic report from the Elk Grove Police Department, along with a discussion of our participation in the CrimeReports website. Code enforcement officers will be on hand to discuss what to do when you have a foreclosed home in your neighborhood.
We’ll have some discussion about community policing and how you can go about starting a Neighborhood Watch program or community association. Also joining us will be the Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Department.
As with previous summits, we’ll have a roundtable type discussion around ways to ensure every Elk Grove neighborhood is strong and safe.

  1. The format of this meeting has been changed and is now also posted on Elk Grove News, so if you want to attend you should get your names on the list. Impossible to know if there will be a small or hugh public turnout. Not sure how they plan on handling the list vs public attendees. Maybe the list should just be eliminated and it's first come...first served. There will probably be an update on ourglenbrooke web site with this information. today.

  2. We already have a Neighborhood Watch program representing our present 422 residents. At this meeting Information will be offered by police, fire, and political representatives concerning our safety. It will give you an opportunity to discuss the information they present and have your questions answered.----Mary

  3. Thought the Board was specific in not wanting outside folks coming to use our facility. When we tried to get bingo for the neighborhood their main objection was it would be encouraging outside people coming in. If this is just politics and we are a non-profit, we should not be providing a facility for politician to hold townhall meetings. Just hope they are paying the $80.00 room rental fee or this needs to be limited to Glenbrooke residents. Hope our management staff realize that if this were held at the Holiday Inn or Valley Hi Country Club you could bet they would be paying to rent the room. The reason it probably is not being held at City Hall is it sounds like, smells like and probably is for political purposes. Total agreement with Mary that we have a neighborhood watch program and a great coordinator doing a fantastic job. If they want to hold future meetings - let them rent somewhere else.
I have stated before that I am total opposed to the facility being rented/used by folks outside the Glenbrooke community but being having us used for political purposes really takes the cake.

  4. From information I have from "outside" Glenbrooke, Gary Davis has been having these meetings with leaders of HOA's for the past year or two at City Hall and community halls when available. They just have not been advertised as open to the public as our meeting has. This meeting is diffferent in that aspect...why, I don't know. It is my understanding that he would have had no problem paying the rent if it had been requested and maybe he is. The part I have a problem with is, it NEVER being posted accurately on the ourglenbrooke web site, the sign up sheet that most don't know about and it being advertised in/on every venue in Elk Grove. The agenda he's covering here has been covered in the other HOA's previously. As far as other City Council persons attending, that would be voluntary and don't expect any except maybe Steve Detrick, if he is available.
As for being open to the public....have no idea how that will turn out. I suppose you could have 25 people show up or 200, guess we'll just have to wait and see how it goes. How they will accomodate residents if there should be a full house and seating is not available...I haven't a clue! It would seem we probably should have asked for clarification and accurate information before it reached this point. It will probably be a very informative meeting and a chance for us to get direct answers that we might have.
I understand Vickie in what you're saying and it's because of the "communication" problem we've been talking about for months that we've even having this conversation. But the Survey will take care of that!!!

  5. JMO, but I kinda look at this as a "Power Play". :-)
