Bringing Neighbors Together

Fair Employment Practices?

Is anyone else confused on how a person can be introduced to residents as the newly hired Arbour Lodge monitor on February 10th when when the position is still being advertised as open?  According to OurGlenbrooke.net, the  "Deadline to receive applications will be February 12th."

I am sure the person is an excellent fit and we welcome her.  Hoever,  those hiring practices are not fair to equally qualified candidates that might have  thought they had until  February 12th to turn in their application;  or just learned of the position and are working on their resume.  Is this the to conduct business?

With the high number of people desperately seeking employment today,  it's  horrible to have them waste their time applying for a job that has already been filled.   Wouldn't it have been better  for the HOA to  honor their word and not offer a position until AFTER the published closing date?

editor's note: For the record, I do not know of of anyone applying for the position.

  1. JMO: I would think the worst thing that this could be called would be "unprofessional" or "unetical". Guess there's no law against it. And yes, I think it would have been better had they waited until after the 12th to make the announcement, but.... they didn't ask me! ;-)

  2. Where was this person introduced? i looked on the "main" website and didn't see anything. Who is this person? I am sure it is NOT that person's fault this happened. But it should not have happened, that is for sure.

  3. She was introduced at a group function (I believe it was Mexican Train) I was at the last table and did not get her name - and she wasn't brought to our table. You are right Kathy, it is not her fault and I am assuming she is well qualified and will be great. We should all give her a warm welcome. I will try to post an introduction artical as soon as I can get some information.

No, my issue is with the unprofessional way our Association handled it. This community is so great , our neighbors are so kind, it is just frustrating to have an HOA that by their actions show little regard for people.

  4. The job is still being advertised on the web site. :-)
