Maybe we need to suggest we may have picket signs at the sales office saying "The HOA board won't listen to us or inform us" and see if that makes a difference to Del Webb and Pulte.
They are the only ones who can "change" the minds of the board members and convince them they need to respect the home owners. It is supposed to be OUR board, to be run for OUR benefit, to protect OUR homes and property. Maybe lots of letters directly to Pulte and Del Webb, not to Mina or the board where they are just ignored. Demand that they either change the rules or change the members on the board. And if they ignore us too then we write to our legislature, tell them we need help because the board won't follow the laws. I have found you get really good results when you seek the help of you legislature.

Your are right Glen. I guess I just have a hard time understanding how treating 'residents' with respect will result in anything other than better feelings.

It seems to me Happy Homeowners are the best selling tool.
I do love it here and enjoy the neighbors, I just see there is so much room for better Board compliance to the governing documents (that we signed when we moved here) and for better communication. Why should we have to wait until the residents control the Board to have that?

I have to agree that we need to have modest expectations about our current board, but we can still keep them "coloring between the lines" (ie, within applicable laws and fiscally responsible).

It was apparent that neither the board nor the management company was going to explain how residents can get appropriate notification and copies of agendas - and that seemed like such an easy way to resolve an issue of concern to so many residents.

I agree Glen, however doesn't our elected board members have a right to make a statement if they disagree with a ruling even though they were overruled by others? I never hear that. We are left to believe that Leo & Les agree with everything that is said and maybe they do. Speaking for myself, I would have a hard time with that. Also, in the election of new board members, who counts the ballots after voting? We moved in July 1, 2008 and I can't remember the address ballots were mailed to. Was one of the resident committee members present when ballots were opened?
