Bringing Neighbors Together

New website host approved

At yesterday's board meeting, the selection of a new Glenbrooke web hosting plan was approved.  You can see specifications for the product at:  http://www.hoa-sites.com/ and even see explore a demo site, if you're interested. I think it's going to be a clear step forward.

The top seven things I like about next new web site.

1. It allows the association to easily deliver email to the members' own email accounts.  It even provides for emailing invoices, which could save us some administrative costs, if members opt in to online invoices.

2. It provides for RSS feeds , meaning that those of us that use a feed reader can just add this feed, and not have to check the site to see if there is any news. It's a great feature when a site has only occasional news, but we want to see the news when it's there.

3.  It supports online payment using paypal - another administrative bonus.

4.  It provides a simple mechanism for members to submit articles, and for administrators to expeditiously approve them.

5.  It provides a message board with email forwarding, another significant convenience.

6 . It provides a search of  content the site. Unfortunately, this wouldn't necessarily extend to the repository of documents like bylaws and minutes, which apparently are not usually indexed.

7. It costs substantially less than our current system too.

It should provide a better tool for communication to the membership, and I hope we'll soon the its benefits.
