  1. Again, thanks to Jim & Darcie for this web site. JMO, many VIEW the web site, but very few contribute. When I look at the website Jim & Darcie set up in Redding and all the community support it gets, I can't help wondering why we're not getting more in this community. I know there are a lot of interesting things happening..personal, etc. that we would like to hear about. If someone's sick, death in the family, lives alone and has no family locally...I think we should all know about that (with their consent of course). I tried to find out before the holidays if we had a neighbor who might be alone over the holidays and emailed a person that should have had that knowledge and received no answer. What's with that? We're not much into the game thing, guess you could say most of our activities are outside of Glenbrooke, but that doesn't mean we don't care about the community and the people that live here. We're late to bed and late to rise people and at 9 - 10 PM last night we had to do two NW notifications for our neighbors. NO emergencies..just open garage door & garage light on when I knew it shouldn't have been. OK, OK...boring you again. I don't know, maybe it's time for Norma to check out!! I do lose my patience sometimes...I know, not good! Just a verbal person, gene thing.

  2. Norma, please don't stop contributing! I get the feedback from the reader numbers so I KNOW we have a lot of people in the neighborhood that read GlenbrookeNews.com. I totally agree with you, not everyone is into playing games or cards. We should be doing more for our neighbors and the larger comunity. All it takes is someone to raise the idea, we will print it and see what we cando.

I am not sure why more people don't want to leave comments or feedback. We really do want this to be the RESIDENTS newsletter. The only rule is it must be civil, not everyone will agree with everyone else, but the discussions are interesting and hopefully, everyone learns from them.

It is only the first time one leaves a comment that it has to be approved. I hate to have to do that but you wouldn't believe the spam we get at this site that would show up as comments if we didn't make sure the person is a resident.

  3. I get such a kick out of A News Cafe. The "chicken envy" and "rainy day movies" and more are fun reading. I know there are a lot of funny stories here - the cake that came out flat, husband cut off spring bulbs-thought they were weeds, recipe that I made using sour cherries (true), had to sweeten with orange marmalade, etc. We all need a laugh sometimes, life's not always perfect. I have a couple of neighbors that are hilarious, we're always feeding each other a bad time. All in fun. ?sp check?

    • Yes, I am going to reprint sojme of Doni's pieces. She had been so caught up in the behind the scenes operation of newscafe she wasn't doing much writing- which I think is wonderfully insightful and amusing. She is going to be writing more and I will reprint here to give inspiration to our neighborhood writers.

Ideally we would have all neighborhood writers but I can't seem to find them. If anyone has a story they would like to print or write a blog you would have a home to post it right here on Glenbrookenews. Come on, where are the writers out there?
Norma send me the sour cherry story on email we will post it! I don't even know the story but it makes me smile already :)
