New Healthy Lifestyle Workshop Starts Jan. 6th!
By Regina Scott
Healthy Lifestyle Workshop is a free new group to help you keep those 2010 New Year’s Resolutions. Did you resolve to lose w, lower your blood pressure, blood sugars, or cholesterol? What about eating healthier or exercising more? Then this workshop might just be the key to help you reach your goal.
The first workshop will be held on January 6th from 10:00 to 11:30 AM in the Arbour Lodge.
“We’ll talk about ways to increase daily activities without having to go to the gym per se - if an individual is not interested in doing so. It will be interactive because I hope to get everyone actively involved in the discussion and give their input rather than me standing up there and lecturing. If a group springs from that and wants to meet going forward – great. Whether it be once a week, once or twice a month or broken up into smaller “buddy” type groups. We can get a feel for that at the workshop."
Why not make this the year you focus on getting or even better - staying healthy? If the word “fitness” leaves a bitter taste in your mouth – replace it with the word :healthy." As we all know, good health is priceless!
Even small changes can make a huge difference in our health and overall well-being. You don’t have to be a jock or live at the gym in order to improve your health. It is never too late to achieve strength gains – even for folks in their nineties!
So, sign up for this new Healthy Lifestyle Workshop & Fitness Center refresher. It starts January 6th. Remember it is Free and right here in our community.

Refresher? Not that I need this
.... but think it would be a nice article to also post on the ourglenbrooke.com website since many in the community may miss this posting. Will see if I can fit this in my hectic schedule even though an AM time frame doesn't work too well in this household! 10 PM much better. Oh, I forgot, we have nothing but time on our hands....foot loose and fancy free! ??who's doing the "refresher"?
Well, I will give it a try. I think I need more than a "little" refresher but any help is good.
After reading the January Newsletter, I'm assuming this is the same meeting that mentions "as a sneak preview, one of the proposed recommendations is to schedule, at a minimum, a couple of sessions with a Personal Trainer." Will Lori Templeman, a Certified Personal Trainer, also be in attendance? A full disclosure would be nice.
Norma, I am not sure. This is the only infomation I recieved from Regina but I will email her with your questions. Darcie
A last minute update! Lori may be in attendance to answer questions after the end of the workshop for those who have questions.
That's ok Darcie, I just noticed from reading the article you were given and the one posted in the "Gazettee" (~_~) were somewhat different. It mentions a "free new group" above and in the other "a personal trainer" is recommended. There's nothing "free" anymore so I would imagine it's a choice as to a personal trainer working with a group or individually for a fee. Either way is fine....learn more at the meeting. Just don't want to listen to a "hard sell". JMO!!!!
The "Get in Gear for the New Year" workshop on January 6th is free. Hopefully, there will be a suprise guest speaker but it is not Lori Templeton, the Personal Trainer. To my knowledge, Lori will not be in attendance. The guest speaker is for informational purposes only - related to healthful eating. They are not selling anything.
The idea for the workshop came about because many of us at this stage of life are facing health challanges directly related to being overweight or we have hypertension, diabetes and/or high chlosteral. In many cases, these challanges can be mittaged by making better choices in our day-to-day living. We may or may not know what to do to acomplish this. Conversely, we may know what to do but need the support and accounabliity from others to stay on track. The sole intent of the workshop is to be a springboard toward establishing and/or maintaning a healthier lifestyle in the coming year. There is no hidden agenda:).
Hope to see you there!
Well, I signed up and not only that, but Regina promises we all go shopping for NEW jeans when all the "points of interest" are tightened up!!
Actually, I think what Regina said was "I'll buy all of you a new pair of jeans". Did I understand that right? Lets sign up now and not get this cancelled.....you must know how hard it is to get me to sign up for anything. I like to just "show up" when the mood strikes, hate appointments and schedules.
JM, but I don't like these games. Tell it like it is!! Big girl, can handle it.
There was a good attendance, but when they took the 11 am break to form groups I had to leave since I had an appointment and I could see time didn't permit me to stay. Maybe someone can update us for that time frame.
I had a Dr. appt. and couldn't goand wanted to find out more.
oops, I wish we could edit typos. Above was suppose to be "coldn't go and wanted to find out more.
