Bringing Neighbors Together

Who Represents Me?

govHave you ever wondered who represents you in the California State Assembly or California State Senate?  How about the United State Congress or United States Senate?  Are you interested in a piece of legislation moving through the Legislature and would like more information?  Would you like to check current California law?

You now have an easy way to get information by clicking on the links below.  The California Legislature site is a great way to research laws, legislation moving through the California Legislature, obtain copies of bill analyses and or even check current law.

If you don’t know who your representatives are you can enter your zip code and it will give you the information and links to their websites so you can find out how to contact them and see all the information on your representatives (biography, addresses, phone numbers, etc.)

Editor's note: Resident Vickie Glaser worked for four different members in the California State Assembly from 1971 through 1994 and then moved to the Secretary of State's office when Assemblyman Bill Jones was elected Secretary of State.    She was the Assistant Secretary of State for External Affairs and worked closely with both houses of the Legislature and former Governor offices of the Honorable Pete Wilson and the Honorable Grey Davis.   Her favorite legislation  authored by  members she worked for came from an idea that started with a stamped letter from a constituent.   New legislation was as small as changing the voting rights of property owners in a little homeowner's association in Mariposa County to the Three Strikes Your Out law sponsored by Mike Reynolds who's daughter was tragically murdered in Fresno, California.

  1. A celebrity in our midst! A toast will be in order at the "Happy Hour" tonight.

  2. Yes, we have such talented and Knowledgeable neighbors! I would love to have a "focus on" section and either make it a new resident or interview people about the different careers.

  3. And Vickie, exactly where were you at the meeting held Thursday evening re: EG becoming a Charter City? Your expertise was needed to speak for the citizens of EG and be sure we get it RIGHT! I don't think I need to remind everyone that it's important for you to educate yourselves about this before it's placed on the Ballot OR maybe things should be left AS IS! One of my questions is...is this somehow related to the SOI and those that are pushing for it? I, for one, have no expertise in politics, but if I own a home and live in a community I think it's important to keep abreast as best I can of exactly what's happening in our community. We have many politically versed people here in Glenbrooke I'm sure, but not a one of you attended this meeting. Let's change that at the next one! Will post exact date and time when I find out. I posted all the information that was available Thursday night for you to prepare.

  4. I agree that the City Charter must be done right the first time. And the most important part must be
    adopting "Home Rule".
I, too, would like to share ideas about legislation coming up.

  5. Phyllis, thanks for your comments. We would love to hear your opinions about up coming legislation (or any other topic). Just write it up and we will post it. We try to keep pieces under 750 words.
