Book Talk with Liberty Kovacs
Local author Liberty Kovacs will discuss her book, Libby's Quest, Tuesday, Oct 20 at 5:30pm at the Elk Grove Library located at 8900 Elk Grove Boulevard. The event is free.
A memoir about a child of immigrant parents growing up in the Ohio Valley during the Depression and World War II. Her family roots go back to the Greek islands. As a child, she struggled to understand two different worlds
Striving for independence, Kovacs decides she will graduate from high school rather than allow her father to arrange a marriage for her at sixteen. Disowned by her father, she went onward with her life to find her own identity. She became a nurse, married a talented poet, and had two sons.
Following the breakup of her marriage, Kovacs returned to college to continue her educational journey. Her irrepressible motivation took her onward to graduate school, another marriage, and a third son.
Life, even a successful life has its darkness, pain, and losses. With determination and perseverance, she faced the challenges and the obstacles that she encountered on the path to the fulfillment of her life's quest.
