Apple Hill
One of the best times of year is September for numerous reasons. Not only is it Glen and my anniversary it's the start of Apple Hill season. If you are thinking of a fun day trip - Apple Hill is the place to go.
We have attached links to give you maps, hours and information of each for the various growers. There are over 50 ranches to visit which include pumpkin patches, Christmas tree farms. We do have some favorites: Abel's has the best homemade carmel apples; High Hill is a great place for craft fair type shopping.
It will take you about an hour to get to Apple Hill as it is a little above Placerville on Highway 50. From Glenbrooke you would take Highway 99 to Highway 50 towards South Lake Tahoe. You take Schnell School Road (Exit 48), turn left and continue 1/2 mile to Carson Road. Turn right on Carson Road and you are at the west end of Apple Hill Drive.
If you click on the apple hill link below, it will give you locations, dates and hours of operation. Also, if you click on maps it will show you either the east or west map of Apple Hill with all of the growers.
In October there are pumpkin patches and if you interested in cutting your own Christmas tree, they even have Christmas tree farms.

Nothing like warm Apple Pie a la mode and then gamble to your hearts delight! How about it? October 22nd, sign up by October 5th and you don't have to do much but walk out your front door...well, maybe stop by the bank! $18.00 and you get $10 of it back for gambling. Cheaper than driving and much more fun. Don't gamble....that's ok, you're full of apple pie, grab a bench/chair, nap or just people watch, take a walk. It should be nice, crisp weather, great time for a trip and with someone else doing the driving your "other" can enjoy with you.
It doesn't seem to be posted on the Glenbrooke web site, but Erin said the trip was sold out and they had a waiting list.
