Thanks for your comments Joyce. I am concerned too that many residents don't know about things that that are going on around them. Both from the HOA and activities and get togethers. We hope this website wil become the resident's voice (as the Pulte/Del Webb ourglenbrooke.net is the HOA voice). I am not sure how to reach the residents that do not have computers. Once, we did take flyers door to door in villiage 5 for a social. It was very time consuming and with no budget can get expensive with printing.

Anyone have ideas how to reach the non computer folks?

I'm glad to see this website. It is something we need. I find it strange that so few few community members know what is happening in their own neighborhood (including myself, I must say, until the past couple of weeks). Perhaps many people do not have computers, or know how to access information on the web. Perhaps others never visit the Arbor Lodge to check out the bulletin board, flyers, etc., or chat with anyone. Therefore, they had no idea about proposed changes in their facilities. If, in fact, some people prefer to stay isolated in their own homes, that is their personal preference, but I find that hard to understand. The very first step that I took before deciding to locate to Glenbrooke, in Elk Grove, was to to take the Del Webb survey on line. This survey asked questions about my personal preferences as to lifestyle. This determined whether or not I would be compatible with the folks who also chose this retirement lifestyle. Had I not found this way of life suitable, I would have stayed in the Bay Area in a neighborhood filled with "young marrieds" pushing their jogging strollers, while talking on their cell phones.
The point of this typing/talk is to encourage those who are able and interested to participate in the goings-on of Glenbrooke. Get involved --- take a class, play a game, read and discuss a book with like-minded folks, sit out on your lovely porches and chat with neighbors, voice your opinions.
This website is a good start, so keep it going. If we need to have block captains who deliver paper flyers to neighbors who do not have computers, let's get busy. I'm up for that.
